LSRS Privacy and Information Use Policy

The Lumbar Spine Research Society (LSRS) is committed to the privacy of the personal contact information of our users. Listed below outlines the policies and procedures concerning information gathering and dissemination practices for our Society.

Collecting and Using Information

LSRS reserves the right to collect personal contact information from those who interact with our organization. LSRS contracts with third parties to provide meeting registration and abstract management resources. When you register to attend a meeting, use the speaker resources, submit an abstract, or attend a webinar, you will be volunteering to provide LSRS with specific contact information. LSRS treats this information with complete confidentiality. Users are provided the opportunity to opt out of meeting communications at any time.

We use this information to communicate with users on an ongoing basis regarding societal updates, initiatives and activities. If warranted, LSRS will submit your personal contact to our third-party accredited provider of CME under the ACCME so that they can process continuing medical education (CME) certificates to attendees.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We provide all users an opportunity to opt out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. While it is our policy not to use personal contact information in ways unrelated to societal updates and business, LSRS may disclose personal information about users, or information regarding your use of our site, for any reason if, in our sole discretion, we believe that it is reasonable to do so, including: to satisfy laws, such as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, regulations, or governmental or legal requests for such information; to disclose information that is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our website Terms of Use or other user policies; to operate the site properly; or to protect LSRS and our users.

Opt In/Out of Communications

LSRS provides users the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications from us. To be removed from our email lists, users can e-mail lsrs@lsrs.org or unsubscribe from email communication.   Members can unsubscribe from LSRS emails however doing so may jeopardize societal communication about membership information and status, such as dues payment notices, voting, and/or other society membership requirements.

Membership Directory

Current LSRS members are listed in a Membership Directory, in digital format, via the website. This public directory has no contact information and lists only member names, institutions, and the city and state where their practice resides.  Members may opt out of being listed in the Membership Directory by contacting the society Executive Director at lsrs@lsrs.org.

Electronic Financial Transactions

Electronic financial transactions are done through Stripe.  All customer financial information is kept in Stripe which is an encrypted and secure electronic payment service used by LSRS.

Security

Our site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control, but we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.

Website Terms of Use

The Lumbar Spine Research Society provides information on these web pages regarding research and links as a public service. The LSRS believes that patients should contact their treating physician about the relevance of any information listed on the site prior to proceeding with any particular treatment. Just as no two individuals are exactly alike, no two patients with a spinal problem are the same. Therefore, your spine surgeon will be the most important source of information about the management of your particular spinal problem.
